Join our five-month Brehm Residency—a dynamic community uniting artists and church leaders nationwide. Dive into synchronous online learning, retreats, and hands-on art-making, fostering deep connections and cultural growth for congregations and communities alike.

Is the Residency Right For Me or My Church?

  • The Brehm Residency welcomes churches and artists who recognize the power of creative arts in community flourishing. Whether your church is just beginning to engage with the arts or is deeply involved, we are looking for churches willing to invest in talented artists to integrate embodied Christian formation and cultural leadership.

  • Ministry leaders will learn to appreciate the arts' value in Christian formation and cultural transformation and implement artistic initiatives for the church and community's benefit. Artists will collaborate in community-building activities like online retreats, shared readings, creative practices, and spiritual exercises, translating these experiences into their church settings. Ministry leaders and artists both will engage in dialogue, learning, and fellowship together.

Registration Information

Enrollment for one participant (whether an artist or church leader) includes access to our online Brehm Residency curriculum, as well as other resources from Fuller faculty and guest speakers. The curriculum includes a monthly sequential series of readings and resources that covers historical, theological, and psychological perspectives on the arts. This resource is available for a year.

Participation includes online Zoom gatherings led by a Brehm Facilitator. These gatherings include guided discussions, fellowship and periodic guest speakers.

Registration cost is $495/person.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • The time commitment for all participants is roughly 10 hours a month. This will vary monthly depending on the readings and assignments.

  • Absolutely, the more the merrier. You can even have more than one church leader.

  • The church and the artist must first decide if they desire to create something for their community. Projects can be small such as holding a salon, or durational like a reading group. Scale, time, and expense need to be considered as well as the context and needs of both the artist and the church. Each church situation is different. Projects, if undertaken, should reference the needs and limitations of its community.

  • We’ve opened up our registration to individual applicants, so if you don’t have a church partner at this time, we welcome you to join the conversation.

    Additionally, we welcome participants coming from diverse ministry contexts, whether a Christian non-profit, missions organization, or campus ministry.
